Halls - "Waves"

"Waves" hits the best of all aspects of Halls' sound on his latest album. Dirty, powerful drums sit peacefully in the alongside meandering Great Lake Swimmers-esque atmospheric vocals and give the song the strength it needs to support what could otherwise be an overwhelming tide of reverb.

Lyrically, "Waves" and most of the album use vocals more as a resonant instrument than a communication mechanism, so you won't be gaining much insight without consulting the lyrics sheet, but the artistic result is enough to fuel the notion that Morrissey just might be sitting next to your bed, singing you to sleep.
